Martha Cooke

Martha Mae Cooke, 83, passed away at her home on Thursday, January 21, 2021. Her husband, Gurnie Rue Cooke and grandson, Allen Hogge, predeceased her. Born in Nichols, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Richard B. Hooks and Nancy Tempie Floyd Hooks. Martha was a Norfolk resident for nearly 70 years. She retired from Wells Fargo where she was a bank teller. A woman of God, she and her late husband were members of Calvary Temple Church in Norfolk for many decades. Martha is survived by one son, Gurnie Keith Cooke of Norfolk; three daughters, Teresa Cooke of Chesapeake, Amanda Rue Hogge of Chesapeake and Delores Robinson of Chesapeake; three sisters, Ottie Yarborough, Nancy Bachman and Pauline Green; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens at 3629 E. VA Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502.
