Linda Lorraine Perry

Linda was born in Portsmouth, VA, on October 20, 1947, the daughter of Preston Devan Perry and Lorraine Caroline Kelly. Linda grew up in Norfolk, VA, raised by her mother alongside her twin sister, Lynn. The sisters would be given a dollar and take the bus into town on the weekend, spending the day seeing a movie, eating egg salad sandwiches on toast, and drinking limeade.

Linda married the love of her life, Julian Lee Perry, at eighteen years old on New Year’s Eve, 1965. They lived together in Virginia Beach, VA. They were married for fifty-six years, renewing their vows on their 50th anniversary. Together they had four children, Nancy, Lee, Joseph, and Daniel.

Linda and Julian started and ran multiple businesses (plaster molds, lawn care, owned trailers, etc.). Linda was not afraid of challenges or taking risks. In her sixties, Linda went back to pursue her High School Diploma. Afterward, she started an adult assisted living business where they cared for people in their most fragile moments. Linda treated every patient like family.

She loved all animals, taking in those needing the most care, and nursing many to health. She may have held the title Neighborhood Cat Lady for a season, wearing it proudly.

We remember Linda for how well she loved, never judging others, and always being welcoming and kind. She always made way too much food for any gathering so that no one went hungry, always inviting drop-ins, and giving away the food off her plate. The sacrifices Linda made for her family are unsurpassed by any other. She is with Jesus now for whom she lived, rejoicing in His presence, awaiting her reunion with family and friends at the resurrection.

Linda is survived by her husband, Julian; her five children, Richard, Nancy, Lee, Joseph, and Daniel; her nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Linda’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 17, 2022, at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502.
