Obituary of Lillian Ramona Smith
Lillian Ramona Mallard Smith, 95, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024 in Chesapeake, VA. Ramona was born in Onslow County, NC to the late Alpha Z. and Lillian M. Pollock. She is predeceased by her first husband of 28 years Cecil Mallard and then remarried William E. Smith, who passed away in 2008. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She prioritized her life for her family and was a woman of many talents. When Ramona wasn’t busy taking care of her family, she would spend her time gardening, woodworking, sewing and could fix almost anything. Her patience and creativity were evident in the beautiful pieces she crafted. She found joy in teaching Sunday school and spreading the word of God and was a true woman of faith. Ramona is cherished in memory by her children, Alfred Daniel Mallard (Dorene), Keith Edward Mallard (Melody), Susan Elaine Mallard (Joe) and Cecilia Ann Mallard; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew her. An intimate graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 11am at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friendship Original Free Will Baptist Church, 139 Ten Mile Fork Road, Trenton, NC 28585.
