Virginia Beach: Leonard (Bud) Martin, born in Pageton, West Virginia, on August 21, 1923 began his trip to glory peacefully on Saturday evening, July 28, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Frances, his parents, Walter & Ella May Martin, three brothers and three sisters, his daughter, Judith Leonard and his grandson, Jason T. Leonard. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy L. Matthews and her husband, James L. Matthews, Jr.; his brothers: Walter F. Martin, Jr. and Clayton Martin, his sister Betty Blankenship; his grandchildren: Jeffrey (JT) Leonard and wife Dawn, Jonathan (Travis) Leonard, Shawn E. Lewis and wife Melissa and Cassandra (Cassie) McDade and husband Dustin; and great grandchildren: Judy, Justin and Dallas Leonard and Skyler and Andrew Lewis. Leonard honored his country with twenty eight years in U.S. Navy, he served in World War II, the Korea War and the Vietnam War. He began his military serve as an enlisted man in 1943 and retired in 1971 as a Lieutenant. Viewing with the family will begin at August 1, 2012 at 10am with funeral services to followed at 11am at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. 6329 E.
