Kevin Lee Bond was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 28, 1958. He was the only child born to the late Willie Bernice Bond of Windsor, North Carolina and Clayton “Sonny” Walden of Brooklyn, New York.
Kevin attended George W. Wingate High School. As a youth, Kevin was athletic. He joined a softball league as a player on the “Bad News Bears” team and excelled at playing basketball. At the age of 12, he was published in the local paper for winning a basketball shooting competition. He also enjoyed being a member of “The Sound Mechanics” as a DJ along with his childhood friends. They performed in Crown Heights and all-around Brooklyn and that’s where his everlasting love for music began. Kevin also had an undeniable love for the arts and spent his teenage years creating unique wood-carved picture frames.
He was a loving, adventurous, sociable and friendly person, but sometimes strong-willed and always outspoken. Kevin, also known as “008”, was “The Life of the Party” and always hosted cookouts and holiday family gatherings. He was the “FOODIE” turned self-proclaimed Chef because when you like to eat well, you learn how to cook. Kevin found pleasure in gambling in casinos and playing numbers with the New York State Lottery. Kevin was affiliated with The Masonic Order for a few years and was a member of the King Solomon Lodge #12 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He also was an active member of the High Power 70 social organization.
In 1983, Kevin became a dedicated employee of The City of New York working for The Central Complaint Bureau (CCB). While working as Deck Supervisor at CCB, Kevin met Theresa Singleton and they married in 1992. He later became a Code Enforcement Inspector working out of Housing Preservation and Development Headquarters at 100 Gold Street, New York, N.Y. During his tenure at Gold Street, he was a first responder during the 9/11 attack. He received accolades for his service by the Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg in July of 2002.
