Julian was born in Kitty Hawk, NC, on July 10, 1937, the son of Julian Perry and Clara [Swain] Perry. Julian grew up in Virginia Beach, VA. He was the first of Julian and Clara’s children to survive, followed by four siblings: Doris, Timmy, Clyde, and Faye.
Julian married Linda Perry on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1965. They renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary. Julian & Linda were married over 56 years when Linda passed on June 6, 2022. Together they had four children, Nancy, Lee, Joseph, and Daniel.
Julian had a very strong work ethic from a young age. With the money he saved from his paper route, he bought the family’s first television set. After getting his diploma, he began working for Norfolk Western Railroad. He worked for the railroad for 29 years. During and after that time, he and Linda were very entrepreneurial, having many side businesses from own trailers to a lawn care business. Their children learned their hard work ethic from them both. Julian loved his family, and laid down his life for them every day.
Toward the last 12 years of his life, Julian’s love for Jesus was renewed, and his chief desire was that his family would choose to follow Jesus above all else, because in Jesus, Julian found true peace and joy. He spent the last several years of his life praying daily for his family: their security, safety, and salvation.
Julian is with Jesus now with inexpressible joy, and reunited with his wife, Linda, awaiting the resurrection promised in Christ.
Julian is survived by his five children: Richard, Nancy, Lee, Joseph, and Daniel; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Julian’s viewing/visitation will be held from 9:30 am — 10:30am, Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Woodlawn Funeral Home at 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502.
