Joan M. (Kinslow) Doy, 90, of The Villages, FL, passed away on July 27, 2019, after a valiant battle with cancer. Joan was born and raised in Syracuse, NY to the late Bernard Kinslow and Lydia A. (Dygert) Kinslow. She is predeceased by 3 sisters, Lydia, Nancy, and MaryLou, and her loving husband Hugh (Jack) Doy, to whom she was married for 63 years before his passing in 2015.
She is survived by her only child, David (Chris) of The Villages, FL; two Grandsons, Jeff (Michelle) of Virginia Beach, VA, and David (Barbara) of New Market, MD; and six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Grace, Leah, David, and Anna. She is also survived by her brother, Bernard Kinslow, of The Villages, FL, and sister Joyce Voorhees, of Seminole FL. Joan moved from Virginia Beach to The Villages in 2016, to be near her son and daughter-in-law.
Joan was a kind and gentle soul who loved her family and friends. She had a beautiful voice and loved singing in her church choir, often performing solos during special religious services. She especially enjoyed seeing her grandsons and great grandchildren, and had the opportunity of watching her two oldest great grandchildren, Tyler and Ryan, living only a few minutes from them, grow up.
Joan will be missed by all who knew her. I'm sure that she is looking down on all of us right now with a smile on her face, and if you listen closely you can hear her singing in the Heavenly Choir.
We love you and miss you.
Funeral services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 6329 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA, on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Jack.
