Jerry Lee Barber, 82, of Virginia Beach passed away May 28, 2014. Born on March 9, 1932 in Swan Quarter, Hyde North Carolina he graduated from New Holland High School and furthered at Tidewater Community College for 4 years. He served his Country in the United States Army for 21 years receiving the Korean service medal, UNSN, MUC, National defense service medal, good conduct medal, 4th Award, Combat infantry badge, Purple heart, NDSM 1st OLC, Vietnam service medal, RUNCM, air medal, 4 ols bars, and 7 svc stripes, arcom. After retiring from the Army he went on to work for the United States Post Office for 35 years. He is preceded in death by his son Gary Barber. Jerry is survived by his wife Dorothy L. Barber; Sons, Perry A. Barber, Archer V. Barber and LeRoy Barber; Brothers, LeRoy Austine and Beaugha Horton; and grandchildren, Mathew Barber, Devonte Barber, Radiance Barber and Cindi Barber. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Woodlawn Funeral Home (6329 E Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk, VA, US, 23502) from 2-5 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 at St. Mark AME Church on (1740 Potters Rd.
