James Haywood Earley Jr.

James Haywood Earley, Jr., 92, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 in Chesapeake. James was born in Norfolk, VA to the late James and Bessie Mae Earley. He is also predeceased by the love of his life of 42 years, Kathleen Earley and after her passing he married Phoebe Earley. James is also predeceased by his siblings, Nancy, Lorene and June. James was a patriotic veteran of the US Air Force for over 3 years. After his service to his country he later owned his own service station, Amoco. He later worked in the insurance industry as an insurance agent. James volunteered for many years in Operation Smile. In his spare time he loved spending it with his family. He enjoyed carving ducks, fishing, and going to the hunting club socializing with his friends. James is cherished in memory by his daughters, Kathie, Lin (Greg), Kim (Wade) and Karen (Paul); his grandchildren, Reilly, Grace, Shara, Kayla, Raegan, Austin, and Jarred; great grandchildren, Wynn, Mackenzie, Jody, Lennon and Luca; his siblings, Peggy, Diane, Douglas, Fred and Jerry. There will be a graveside service conducted at 11am, Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family welcomes everybody after the graveside service to the reception hall at Woodlawn Funeral Home to share some memories of James with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or Operation Smile.
