Obituary of George C Sizemore
George C. Sizemore, 62, passed away November 11, 2024. He was born in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Grady and Lois Center Sizemore. George proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy for twenty-one years, honorably retiring as a Senior Chief. Following his time in the service, he continued to be a treasured part of his community by co-owning and operating Bit of England Dart and Game Shoppe. He loved the challenge of the game of darts as well as the fellowship of the dart family that he built. Devoting his life to the sport, he was inducted into the National Darts Hall of Fame. Along with darts, George enjoyed spending time with his extended family. He loved fishing, surfing, skating, and golf. His favorite sayings were “A family that plays and prays together, stays together.” As well as “Shoot smart, shoot straight”. As a devoted husband and father, he Left behind his loving wife of 41 years, Denise; his two children, Christopher George Sizemore and Emily Marie Sizemore, and his grandson, Hayden Christopher Sizemore to cherish his memory, as well as, his brother Tommy Fuller (Ann), his sister, Bambi Powell, his brother, Larry Sizemore (Karen) and his nephews, Patrick Powell (Dana) and James Lee. George was blessed with an ability to make friends everywhere he went. He was loved and will be missed by a host of other family and friends. The family invites you to a time of visitation on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 5-7 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk. His funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 12 noon. Following the funeral service, George will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens where military honors will be rendered. A Celebration of Life will be held On December 14th at the Aragona Moose Lodge, 3133 Shipps Corner Rd, Virginia Beach, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation be made to The American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
