For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
2nd Timothy 4: 6-7
Early on Tuesday Morning, May 26th, God decided to pluck another flower from His Beautiful Garden of Life and called our dearly Beloved Father, Grandfather, family member, friend Ferry Franklin Forney, Jr. to his eternal rest. Ferry quietly departed his earthly life at the home of his beloved daughter Selena Halsey in Joppa, Maryland with his grandson, Jules by his side. In 1930, on the 25th day of September, Ferry was born to the late Ferry Franklin Forney, Sr. and Pearl Augusta Eddleman Forney. He was a
native of Salisbury, North Carolina and a graduate of Dunbar High School. Prior to enlisting in the United States Army, Ferry completed one year of College. In 1952, after serving eight years in the Army, he received an Honorable discharge. During the early years of his young-adult life, he met and married the love of his life and best friend Marjorie “Lovie” Baum. “Ferronee” as she lovingly called him, was a most loyal and devoted husband. To their union was born three amazing gems; Kenneth, Gary Joe, and Selena. In the early seventies Ferry became a member of the Bethlehem Church of Christ, Disciples and later relocated his membership in 1983 to the New Bethlehem Church of Christ, where he remained a faithful member until his death. Ferry was an ordained Deacon and served as one of the Chairman Deacon of the Church until his health began to fail. At the Church, Ferry served as the Chairman Trustee, Church Treasurer and was a hard-working member of the Missions’ Ministry, Transportation Ministry, Male Fellowship Ministry, the Male and Gospel Choir. His favorite song throughout the years was “Now Let Us Sing Until the Power of the Lord Comes Down” in which he was the baritone lead. He was a loving, humble, strongly principled person, who believed in brotherly fellowship. Ferry enjoyed sports, cooking out and congregating with good people, sharing good food and good times.
