Obituary of Durwood Allen Perkins, Jr.
On Thursday, September 5th, another angel ascended to heaven, as Durwood passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by his loved ones. Durwood was a proud graduate of Granby High School. Following his graduation, he joined the Marine Corps and served as a reservist before finding his calling as a firefighter with the Air Combat Rescue Squad at Norfolk Naval Air Base. He continued to serve his community and faith by serving as a deacon and joyful member of several churches throughout the Hampton Roads area; most recently at VB Beacon Baptist Church. Durwood was the cherished son of Durwood Alan Perkins Sr. and Alma Vernell Clark Perkins. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne Lee Jackson Perkins; his brother, John Edward Perkins Sr. (Jenny); his niece, Kacey Perkins; and his nephew, John Edward Perkins Jr. He was a proud father of four amazing children: Durwood Allen Perkins III (deceased 2019) (Lisa Prazmark), Brian Keith Perkins (Dr. Lynn Lambert), LeeAnne Hockey (Geoff Hockey) and Heather Price (Thad Price).
