OBITUARY
Benjamin Hector Barnes Jr.
10 August, 1926 – 1 January, 2014
Benjamin H. Barnes, Jr., 87, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk. He was predeceased by his mother, Mayme Louise Bray; father, Benjamin Hector Barnes, Sr.; step father, Otis T. Bray and son, Randolph T. Barnes.
Benjamin was born on August 10, 1926, he was a graduate of Maury High School, 1944 and he continued on with his education and received an Associate degree from William and Mary College. He was a veteran of WWII in the Army Air Corp and US Marine Corps. Benjamin was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and also a Mason, former member of the Norfolk Moose Lodge. For his career, he was a Sales Manager for Fairmont Bld. Supplies for 44 ½ years when he retired on January 25, 2007.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary C. “Tina” Barnes; son, Jeffrey Benjamin Barnes of Roanoke; grandchildren, Jeanne Lynn Barnes of Fairfax; Mathew Benjamin Barnes of Roanoke; stepson, Butch Beecham; step grandchildren, Holly Tabor and J.D. Beecham along with his loving companion, his baby girl Ella.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Friday, at Smith and Williams Funeral Home Norview. A graveside service will be conducted at Rosewood Memorial Park at 1pm, Saturday, to be officiated by the Rev. Fred Braswell.
