Myrtis St. Pierre Hymel

Myrtis Marie St. Pierre Hymel passed away peacefully at her home in LaPlace on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the age of 85. She was born on July 25, 1937, was a native of Grand Point and a 26-year resident of Good Hope.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Thomas Ray Hymel Sr., her children, Chris “Kike” (Kathy), Jodi, and Mark (Katherine), grandchildren, Joey Hymel (Lisa), Danielle Hymel, Christina H. Rome (Clayton), Tára Carr, Ryan Hymel (Cristina), James Hymel, Justin Hymel, Jessi H. Kleinpeter (Chandler), Matthew Gauthier, and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin sister, Merlyn S. Terry (Percy), brothers, Curry (Phyllis), R.J. (Eva) and Roy St. Pierre Sr. (Roberta), and her uncle, Prentice Louque Sr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, René and Elda St. Pierre Sr., her children, Sheree Hymel and Tommy Hymel Jr., sisters, Helen S. LeBlanc (Keith) and Marie St. Pierre, and father and mother‐in‐law, Lionel and Louise LaCroix Hymel Jr.

Myrt’s cheerful personality brought laughter to every conversation. Her giving heart and loving soul will be cherished forever. Heaven gained another angel.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd. Destrehan, LA. Visitation will be held from 10AM – 12PM with a funeral Mass to begin at 12PM. Interment will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
