Glenn Paul Ory, age 70, passed and joined his Heavenly Father on August 24, 2011, in Houston, TX. Glenn’s survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Claire Ann Cospolich, and their three sons Paul Joseph Ory and wife Tanya of Destrehan, LA, Philip James Ory of Kenner, LA, and Donald John Ory and wife Jane of Meadows Place, TX, along with his four grandchildren Ann Marie Rose and Maria Ibieta of Destrehan and Sarah Elizabeth and Nicholas James of Meadows Place. Glenn is also survived by his brother Ernest Jules Ory and wife Joan. Brother-in-law of James and Shirley K. Cospolich and Jeannette C. and James Fonte and also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Glenn was the son of Ivey Paul Ory and Mabel Marie Champagne and the grandson of Abel Paul Ory and wife Elise Mire and Paul Andre Champagne and wife Euphrasie Roussel. Glenn was a native of New Orleans and resided in Meadows Place, TX for the past 38 years, but not a year has gone by without visits to his family and friends in SE Louisiana.
A graduate of De La Salle High School, Glenn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from L.S.U.N.O. while at the same time working full-time and raising a family. He was an information technology professional whose career included 25 years with the Shell Oil Co. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
In addition to his family and friends, Glenn loved the outdoors, traveling, baseball and football, and he was a great cook. In his retirement years he and his wife traveled throughout the U. S. and Caribbean and especially enjoyed birding and fishing. His interests also included researching the genealogy of his and his wife’s families, and he compiled a great deal of related information on the families of SE Louisiana.
He will be missed.
Please join us in celebrating a Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 13396 River Road, Destrehan, LA, on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 11:30 AM. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:30 AM. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
