Clay Joseph Poche passed away January 5, 2017 at the age of 98. A native of Hester, LA and a resident of Destrehan, LA for 62 years. He was the beloved husband of Lesa S. Poche for 62 years. Father of Cary James Poche (Maureen) of River Ridge, and Donna Poche Ruiz (Laurent Jr. “L J”) of Destrehan. Grandfather of Angelle Poche, Robert Poche, and Rachael Ruiz. He is also survived by his siblings, Alice Dupuy (late Dewey), Ned Poche (Late Ruth), Verna Weaver (late Warren), Barbara Stein (Houston), his sister-in-law Mildred Poche, and brothers-in-law, Rene Schexnaydre (late Lucille) and Charles Schexnaydre (Lydia), as well as nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ludivine Louque Poche, and his siblings, Whitney Poche (late Lenora), Lola Triche (late Harold), Hazel Roussel (late Laurie), and Earl Poche.
Mr. Clay was a WWII Veteran, charter member of VFW post 5852 in Lutcher, LA, and a member of the American Legion Post 0366 in Destrehan, LA. He was an avid gardener and outdoorsmen. He never met a stranger and was truly a kind hearted man who will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic church, 13396 River Rd. Destrehan, LA, on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 beginning at 9:30 AM.
