To the ranelli family, if this was the same rich on joanne street, i lived across the street on 111 Pennsylvania ave with my aunt cecelia boykin. He played little league baseball in east lyme. He was on the yankees, i was on the v,f.w . I only lived there 6 months while my father was in germany. Rich became an instant friend and im so sorry for your loss ( i just saw this.) i do remember the little area on joanne street used for growing plants, ect

To the Ranelli family,

I was shocked to learn that Rich had passed away. I recently retired and wanted to get in touch with him since I knew he retired to the Niantic area. Working for and then with Rich at HNB in the late 1970s was an exciting time. His leadership style was no nonsense, plain vanilla systems development to get things done on time, within/under budget and with great customer satisfaction. I almost followed him to MNB in the early 80s but decided to pursue a career as an independent IT consultant. I join Bing Higgins and Dave Iacino in offering you my deepest condolences and prayers. Even though I only knew Rich for 5 or so years, he was a wonderful person. And died much too early like his other HNB colleagues Diane Gellenbeck and Phyl Ladd. I will remember them all in my prayers.

Richard was a friend since 1st grade at Niantic Center School.  I still drive by the "Ranelli house" in Niantic and think of him.  I am so sorry for his loss - although I haven't been in touch with him over the years, I remember him through our days in school together.  My sympathies to the family.

I'm so sad to hear of Rich's passing.  I was informed just today.  Rich was an incredible leader and mentor.  He was a huge influence on me and so many others.  Condolences to Laurie and the Ranelli family.

Saddened to hear about Rich.  I was grateful to have worked for/with Rich at HNB/CNB/Shawmut.  It was like the game of golf we both enjoyed.  Thankful for the exercise it provided, for the sense of companionship we experienced with others, and for the opportunity we had to enjoy the beauty of creation, opens mind and hearts to the lessons that we shouldn't give up after a few bad holes, because things will probably get better if we just keep trying.  That we need to be flexible, if the nine iron won't do the trick, maybe the pitching wedge will.  Most importantly I learned from Rich that those who work hard with patience and persistence will succeed.

Jeff, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father.  My condolences to you and your family.

I was at IBM and was working with Rich back in 1974.  He was installing CPCS at Hartford National Bank and I was his vendor support.  He was a great leader there.  He assembled an excellent crew and brought in the system under the time that was assessed.  I was pretty much a rookie then and Rich taught me a lot about managing a software project.  I was living in East Hartford and his house was not far away in Glastonbury.  So we spent a lot of time together outside of the bank as well as in the bank.  My thoughts are with Laurie and hope that time will heal this tragedy.
