Richard H. Hall (92) of Niantic CT passed away peacefully on January 28, 2024. He was born in Hartford CT, January 22, 1932 to parents Percival E Hall and Henrietta (Williams) Hall. Graduated from Newington CT High School, class of 1950. Served two years in the army during the Korean Conflict. Honorably discharged October 1955. Graduated from Indiana Technical College (Fort Wayne, Indiana) June 1955 with BSME degree. Employed by Hamilton Standard Division of UTC from July 1959 to March 1987 as Operations Manager of the Space Systems Division, responsible for providing space suits and life support systems for the Apollo moon landing and space shuttle programs.
Richard lived in Simsbury CT while employed. Retired to Jupiter FL in 1987, moved to Stuart FL in 1998. Predeceased by his parents, older brother (Herbert S. Hall) and grandson Trevor Stark, Richard is survived by long-time companion Linda V Coleman, daughters Brenda Gareis (Joe) and Lisa Stark (Jeff), grandchildren (Susan Zeidler (Eric), Alan Gareis, Tiffany Stark) and great-grandchildren (Emmeline, Elyse, Eric J Zeidler).
Richard was a man of broad interests and many talents . He excelled at piano and loved singing, especially show-tunes. His senior High Yearbook named him both best musician and best artist. Tellingly, he was also voted noisiest, most fun, liveliest, and class wit. Besides music, hobbies included traveling, sailing, fishing, golf, and tag-sale bargain hunting. Richard felt blessed with family and friends, an interesting and exciting career, years of good health and luck in having met so many wonderful people.
Per Richard’s request, there will be no formal services. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to causes of your choosing.
