Michael was born in Greenville, South Carolina, to Michael J. D’Amato and the late Linda Margentino on January 17, 1979. He graduated from Fitch High School in 1997. He worked as the Director of IT for D’Amato Builders & Advisors. Michael was an avid sports fan; he never missed a Clemson football game or a Ferrari Formula One race. As a child, Michael played football and has the amazing ability to recall details from his loved ones’ athletic careers. Michael loved music across genres and was proud to have traveled to more than 100 Phish shows over the years.
He is survived by his father, Michael J. D’Amato and his wife, Suzanne of Niantic. Two brothers, Nicholas D’Amato, and his wife, Shirley of Raleigh, NC, and their daughter, Sydney and brother Daryl Yarmolovich and his wife, Larisa of West Springfield, VA and their children, Leo and Ari. Two step-brothers, Brandon Stephenson of Niantic and his daughter, Ella and Jonathan Stephenson of Niantic, and step-sister, Ashley Chmielewski, and her husband, Sean of Salem and their son, Noah.
A Celebration of Life for Michael will be held on Sunday, May 21 at 1 PM at the Inn at Mystic, Haley Mansion, 3 Williams Ave., Mystic, CT 06355
