He was born on October 10, 1942, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Robert and Opal McQueen.
Jim Graduated from Burlington Iowa HS in 1960, continued his education in Engineering with a Master’s degree from Uconn. Jim built his career with the Connecticut Water Company and Retired in 2004 as the Vice President after 39 years of service. Jim was a member of the National Guard as a medic. Jim loved to travel with his loving wife. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed an occasional poker game with friends. Jim spent his retirement years Cooking, spending time outdoors feeding the birds and hunting for treasures with his great grandson in the snapper nest. Jim loved his family and made every moment count to the fullest. He was always “Up to it or down to it” with his many good friends that adorned his life. He coined the Phrase “Trust me!” whenever he was planning his next adventure with his bride. One of his biggest accomplishments was being a father and grandfather. He always was there for them and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer.
James is survived by his wife Linda; children Robert McQueen and his wife Angela of Ocoee, Florida and Shelly Peace and her husband Timothy of Old Saybrook, and; sister Janice Leinbach of Iowa; grandchildren Nicholas (Victoria) and Taylor McQueen and Branden and Megan Peace; and great grandson Gideon James McQueen. He was predeceased by his sister Joann Mellinger.
