It is with great sadness that the family of Wayne Robert “Zak” Basnett announces his passing on August 2, 2018 at the age of 59. Wayne is the beloved son of the late Robert Basnett (1996) and Mary Basnett (nee Albers). Cherished brother of Gary (Teresa) Basnett and Jeff Basnett, Dear Uncle to Nolan, Samantha, Jessica and Charlie. Forever in the hearts of his Uncle David (Irene) Albers of Niagara Falls, Aunt Evelyn Packard of Haliburton, Aunt Lorraine Hillier of Niagara Falls,. He is predeceased by his Uncle Edward and Aunt Madeline Basnett of New Hampshire, Uncle Todd Packard of Haliburton and Uncle Hap Hillier of Niagara Falls and many cousins. Wayne will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
His love for trains as a young boy turned into a passionate career as an adult. Wayne worked for CN Rail for many years as a Train Conductor, beginning his career in Niagara Falls and eventually making his way to Sarnia. On his days away from the trains he would spend is time in the great outdoors, enjoying his love of nature and peaceful surrounding. A true gamesman at heart: now free as a bird.
