May 31, 1980 - July 18, 2013
It is with the saddest of hearts, that we inform you of the passing of our youngest daughter, Katey Marie Campbell at the age of thirty three.
Katey was an accomplished artist and she could bring any canvas to life.
As a compassionate and dedicated teacher, she used her creative abilities in the classroom to engage her students, teach them how to respect themselves, those around them, and realize their full potential.
Katey is survived and much loved by her remaining family. Her mother, Helga (Schutz) and her father, Wayne, loved her unconditionally with nurturing hearts and soul.
Her sister, Leigh Blakely, together with her husband Michael, provided her with supporting love and friendship. Their 2 children, Aidan and Livia Blakely, were the loves of her life. She adored them and they adored her in return. Their favorite thing was to run to her open arms in greeting.
Her Oma, Katharina Schutz, delighted in Katey’s remake of all the vintage clothing in her closet and saw in her the continuation of the Schutz tailoring talents. Her uncles, Joe (Laurie) and John Schutz, were always a source of comfort and strength to her when she needed it.
Katey was a graduate of A.N. Myer S.S., The University of Western Ontario, and Medaille College in Buffalo N.Y. which earned her a Masters Degree and an Ontario Teaching Certificate.
She taught for the District School Board of Niagara at FJ Rutland and Battlefield. Her student teaching was at Simcoe St. and John Marshall. She received many accolades from students, parents, teachers and administrators alike. She home tutored a troubled student who eventually went on to graduate from high school.
Katey enjoyed her summer employment at Niagara Falls Hydro, especially working with the linemen, checking meters, and discovering grow-ops. She even learned how to use a wrench, screwdriver, hammer and nails.
She loved her hours spent at the Keg waiting on tables, using her charm to ensure her guests thoroughly enjoyed their dining experience. She was recognized officially for her talents as a server.
Her experience as a server introduced her to many culinary experiences which she used to create gourmet meals that could also be called works of art.
Katey, we love you and we will miss you. Everyone will miss you. May your troubled soul find the rest and peace you so deserve.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation for Katey on Wednesday August 7, 2013 at St. Andrew’s United Church, 5645 Morrison St. from 2 – 4 p.m. A Service to Celebrate Katey’s life will be held in the church at 4 p.m.
