It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Ann Warren (nee Bates) at the age of 78. As Barbara loved life and every moment with her family, she bravely and gracefully fought a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She will forever be in the hearts of her loving and adoring partner Erhard Kern, her beloved children Bradley (Sally) Warren and Allison (Christian) McInnis (nee Warren) and her grandchildren Julia and Nathan Warren and Everhett McInnis. She will also be remembered by her niece Alexandra Janet Bates-Toth, daughter of her late identical twin sister Beverly Jean Toth (nee Bates) and late brother-in-law Ted Toth. Barbara is predeceased by her grandmother Janet Nokes, father Ernest James Bates and brother Bryan Bates along with her dear Aunt Agnes Symington Barrett and Cousin Kenneth Barrett. We are also thinking of Barbara’s niece and nephews from the west coast, Melissa, Brandon and Jason Bates.
As one half of “The Bates Twins”, Barbara grew up in Niagara Falls and went to Stamford Collegiate where she was a proud cheerleader. She often joked with family, reciting her cheers at any opportunity. Barbara was also a beauty pageant queen and came in runner up for the Miss Hospitality Niagara contest.
Barbara Ann found her passion in life working with flowers. She trained at the University of Guelph and worked as a florist for many years. She demonstrated her brilliant artistic abilities at weddings and celebrations all over the Niagara region. She always had the most beautiful garden and could brighten up any table centre piece with whatever she could find.
Barbara had a great sense of humour and zest for life, never wanting to miss out. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and was always there to cheer all of us on. No one believed in her children and grandchildren more than Barbara.
Barbara’s presence is already missed, and we will forever hold her in our hearts, continuing her legacy of kindness, love and fairness.
Barbara’s family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Garden City Manor.
Family and friends will be received at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Avenue Niagara Falls on Friday October 18th from 10:00am- 12:00pm with a funeral to follow in the chapel at noon and interment at Fairview Cemetery in Niagara Falls.
If you feel inclined to honour or remember Barbara, there would be no more appropriate way than to send flowers.
