Richard was born in the Bronx, NY to the late Louis and Josephine (Maroglio) Magnone. He grew up in Swartswood, NJ and moved to Andover Township in 1963. Richard was a proud Marine Corps veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he worked as a Tool and Die Maker at Picatinny Arsenal for 40 years. He was a member of the Newton VFW Post 5360, American Legion Post 157 of Branchville and Marine Corps League. He volunteered during Desert Storm and returned to active duty for the Marine Corps. Richard attended and was an avid member of Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing during his leisure time.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Phyllis E. Magnone; his children, Linda Read and husband, Jeff, Carolyn de Visser and husband, Richard, Dianne Silvestri and husband, Tom, Julie Magnone, Jill Catalano and Richard Magnone, Jr.; his grandchildren; McKenna and Madison Read, Kaitlin Oskirko and husband, James, Kelsi Huber and fiancé, Josh Gallo, Connor and Kyle Huber, Victoria Olivieri and husband, Sam, Nicholas Catalano, Sophia Catalano, Anthony Catalano, and Andrew Magnone; his step-grandchildren, Ryan, Tommy and Kodie Sylvestri; his great-grandchildren; Emma, Madelynn, Dylan, Carina, Carissa-Jo and Vienna; his sister, Dolores Reskovac; and his nephew, Richard Reskovac.
Visitation will be held on Friday June 18, 2021, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 48 Tranquility Rd, Andover Boro, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Newton, NJ.
