Mary Townsend, 59, of Newton, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Newton Medical Center. Mary battled Emphysema/ Stage 4 COPD like no other. She is believed by some to be the strongest woman in the world. Even with a poor quality of life, Mary never lost hope and she always stood strong and fought. She was definitely one of a kind.
Mary was born and raised in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School and also attended Sussex County Technical School where she studies cosmetology and became a Beautician. She worked for several different salons and barbers throughout her life, most recently she was a stylist for John’s Barber in Newton she will be remembered as one of the best.
Mary was a fun, kind and loving person. She was a loyal friend and the type to give the shirt off her back to whomever was struggling. Mary enjoyed arts and crafts, puzzles, fishing, collecting antiques and cooking. She liked rock and roll, horror movies, project runway, the bachelor, and loved her Judge Judy. Mary was always more than a friend; she was a hard worker and provided for her family. She had one of the warmest hearts and was such a great mom. She will truly be missed and forever be in our hearts. Her spirit will always be alive and with us, not one day will she be forgotten.
Mary was predeceased by her mother, Jacqueline (Sliker). She is survived by her children, Trevor DeMarinis, Kristiana DeMarinis and Christopher DeMarinis; her granddaughters, Tiana and Mileena; and her father and step-mother, Jacob and Elba Insinga.
