Margaret E. Thomas

Margaret was born on November 2, 1930, at Briar Ridge Farms behind Perona Farms, to the late Ernst and Mildred (Powers) Akerstrom. She was a graduate of Newton High School, Class of 1948. Prior to her retirement, Margaret worked as a Controller for Sears and a Clerk for Selective Insurance. She was a member of the Andover United Methodist Church. Margaret was devoted to her family and spent many happy summers on Lake Wallenpaupack in Pennsylvania.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband, William R. Thomas; her sister, Barbara Mills; her brother, Ernest "Skip" Akerstrom; and her great-grandson, Joshua Thomas. She is survived by her children, Alan Thomas and his wife, Eileen, William E. Thomas and his wife, Pamela, David Thomas and his wife, Joanne, Lynn Delfing and her husband, William, and Scott Thomas and his wife, Claúdia; her siblings, Mildred "Toots" Lynch, Neil Akerstrom, Sandra Akerstrom and Janice Lelak; her grandchildren, Kevin Thomas, Paul (Katie) Thomas, Marc Thomas, Briana (Vincent) Paternoster, Christopher (Brandy) Thomas, William T. Delfing (Robert Benzing), Kristen (Thelonius) Sibblies and Bryan Delfing; her great-grandchildren, Hannah, Vincent, Eva, Miranda, Nathaniel, Sophia, Tiffany and Thelonius, III; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ 07860. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Tranquility Cemetery in Green Township.
