Lois Jean Baldwin, age 89, of Newton, New Jersey passed away peacefully in her daughter's home on Friday, November 18, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born in Canton, Pennsylvania, on August 6th, 1933 to the late Clausen and Beatrice (Fairbanks) Case.
To say Lois had many talents and pursuits would be an understatement. She attended college in Manhattan and lived in the dorms during the week, commuting back home by train every weekend. She held multiple positions as an office manager throughout her life, most recently at E J Brooks in Newton. Always keeping herself busy, Lois was a gifted singer and a member of the Sparta and Montclair Chapter of the Sweet Adelines Chorus, taking part in competitions across the country and performing at Carnegie Hall. She had a love for singing, dancing, music, and gardening. Lois was fond of staying active, and enjoyed mowing her lawn with her push mower. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she found joy in making little Christmas villages to display at home.
Anyone fortunate enough to have met Lois would tell you that she had an enormous heart and an endlessly generous spirit. She always put the needs of others before her own, cheering on and uplifting everyone around her. Among the countless life lessons Lois imparted on the many lives she touched, she led by example with her positive outlook and ability to find a silver lining in any situation. She was known to take in cats, dogs, and kids who needed help, with open arms and a warm smile.
Lois is survived by many loving family members who will miss her dearly. Her 4 children; son William, son James, daughter Loren McCarton, daughter Sandra Taylor; her daughter-in-law Donna Baldwin; her son-in-law James McCarton; her grandchildren Mark Taylor, Shannon and Tyler Baldwin, Jenna Baldwin Hammond (John), Laura, David, and Michael Baldwin, Brooke McCarton Wilson (Ryan), and Shawn McCarton Weiss (Karl); her great-grandchildren Eli and Audrey Hammond, and Ashlee and Rylee Wilson.
