Frederick was born on September 10th, 1948 in Orange Township and grew up in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a computer programmer at Selective Insurance and was also part of the residential support staff for SCARC. Frederick devoted over 40 years in the recovery community and was a member of St Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Sandyston, New Jersey.
Frederick was an avid outdoorsman and found joy in nature by hiking and spending time at the lake with his family. He relished watching thunderstorms from the front porch and could often be found reading a book out in the shade. Frederick was known for his infectious laugh and strange sense of humor, always joking, teasing, and pushing buttons. He was a keen learner and enjoyed discussing/debating history, politics, and religion. Frederick was always willing to help someone in need, whether it was to provide a warm meal, a safe place to stay, or just someone to talk to and listen.
Frederick was predeceased by his late wife, Ruth Ann; and daughter, Heather. He is survived by his loving children, Douglas Kilpatrick and wife Nicole Worman and grandchildren, Ryley, Liam and Kassidy; Jennifer Zylak and husband Jordan and granddaughter, Ruth; his sister, Jean Kilpatrick; his brother, Donald Kilpatrick and wife Karen Lavine; along with many other beloved family members and friends.
