Billy is preceded in death by his father, Dorce F. Helms, and Sherry Hamrick. Living relatives include his mother, Kathy T. Helms, three sons, Westley (Newton), Cody, and Gerald (of the home), and his loving fiancé, Karen Canipe, Aaron Hamrick (Barbara) of Lincolnton, along with many other family and friends.
Billy had many passions, and music was one of them. He loved playing and listening to various artists and shared his love of music with everyone he met. Billy’s family was essential to him, and his son Gerald says, “My dad became the best dad in the world, and my brothers agree.” All will truly miss him.
Billy loved not only music but also his church and church family. Even in his illness, he always asked about members and showed care and concern for Crowell Memorial.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:30 PM at Willis Reynolds in Newton. His service of celebration and remembrance will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM at Crowell Memorial Church, with Pastor Eric Kelley and Rev. Cindy Nanney officiating. Graveside services will follow.
Pallbearers: Thomas Crowder (Peety), James Helms (Perm), David Blackburn, Sebastian Sigmon, Jacob Wilfong, Jonathan Crowley, and Aaron Hamrick (honorary).
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made at Crowell Memorial Church in Lincolnton.
