She was born in Catawba County, NC on July 30, 1928 to the late Marcus Lafayette Woodring and Icie Idora Christopher Woodring. Sarah was a long time member of St. James Lutheran Church and worked as a seamstress in the textile industry for many years.
In addition to her parents Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ray Eugene Sigmon; daughter, Tena Darnell Sigmon; brothers, Fred, Charlie and Coy “Peck” Woodring; sisters, Faye Jarrett, Mae Woodring and Mary Higgins; nieces and nephews, Norma Sue Monday, Vaughn Woodring, Katherine Isenhour, Leon Woodring, Jo Anne Sigmon and Diane Harwell.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Dennis Woodring (Polly), Catherine Woodring, Janice Huffman, Vicki Moats (Lester), Freddie Woodring Jr (Carolyn), David Woodring (Janice), Judy Brown, Lynn Yancey (Jerry), Ron Harwell; and a number of extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at St. James Lutheran Church Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 2pm with Pastor Ken Reed officiating. Family and Friends will gather in the fellowship building following the graveside service.
