Randall Franklin Winstead, 79, of Newton, died Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Carolina Caring Hospice House. A native of Newton, he was the son of the late Joseph Harrison and Sara Elizabeth Winstead. Randall worked for the City of Newton for over 38 years. Toward the beginning of that career, he also served in the US Army, was deployed in the Vietnam War, and earned a Bronze Star Medal.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Winstead was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Alan Winstead and Russell Alexander Winstead. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Betty Moser Winstead; two sons, Randall Keith Winstead and his wife, Faith, of Chesapeake, VA, and Joseph Paul Winstead of Davidson, NC; brother, Robert Winstead of Newton, and two grandchildren, Shaw and Franklin Winstead of Chesapeake, VA.
A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home, 56 Northwest Blvd., Newton, NC 28658, on Saturday, November 2, at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Robert Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Eastview Cemetery.
