Mary Louise Beauchamp, age 88, of Newton, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
“Mary Lou” Hess was born in Pennsylvania, where she met and married her high school sweetheart Sidney Challfonte Beauchamp March 5, 1953, they moved to Miama Fl. where they were blessed with 3 children: Sidney Wayne, Debbie Lou, and Laurie Ann. With another job promotion for Sid, they moved to Japan in 1961. 3 years later another promotion took them to Hawaii in 1964. They spent 12 years enjoying the sand and surf while watching their 3 children each go one to marry their own high school sweethearts. With the kids busy with high school Mary Lou started working at Liberty House Department Store in Sales.
Sid’s next promotion then took them to Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista, Arizona in 1976 known as the government’s communications “White House”. Leaving their grown children and their families in Hawaii.
Mary Lou took a secretarial position with the company that build their new home. Eight years later in 1983 Sid and Mary Lou moved to Washington DC where Sid worked with President Ronald Regan with top secret clearance as GS/GM-15 Deputy Director. Mary Lou only knew of a phone number where she could leave a message for Sid while he was at work. 1988 due to a back injury Sid retired, and they moved to Florida where her parents were living. Mary Lou worked at the local Walmart for the next 20 years developing deep and lifelong friendships.
Sidney C. Beauchamp died in 1993, and Mary Lou continued to live there until 2019 when she decided to move up to Abernathy Laurels in Newton, North Carolina where she enjoyed her final years with her two dogs Bella and Coco and her son and his family. Daughter Debbie Lou died in an auto accident in 2001. Daughter Laurie and her husband Perry were able to make a few trips out to visit her before Laurie passed away in 2023.
Mary Lou and Sidney C. Beauchamp enjoyed 7 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild that she did not get to meet. They all are living in North Carolina, Hawaii, Arizona, California, and Montana. Always someplace to go visit.
Mary Lou now rest’s peacefully with her husband Sid and their 2 daughters, Debbie and Laurie and grandson Sid. She will be buried next to her husband and generations of extended Beauchamp family in Berlin, MD at the Evergreen Cemetery.
