James David Duncan Sr.

James David Duncan Sr., age 89, of Conover, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. He was the son to the late Leroy Lafont Duncan and Ora Jane Kanupp. James was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Startown and was a loving and devoted husbad, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Frances Duncan; daughter, Sandra Sharpton; sisters, Katie Hollar and Violet Gilbert; and brothers, John, Frank, Willard, Mack, and Billy Duncan.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Deborah Guthrie, and Daphna Robinson and husband, David; sons, David Duncan Jr., Doug and wife, Rosemarie, Kevin and wife, Lisa, Darryl and wife, Bernadette, Christopher and wife, Melissa, and Michael and wife, Christiana; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Startown with Pastor Ralph Kraft officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ryan, Bryan, Dustin, Jesse, Joseph, and Alex.
