Elizabeth Sue Woolard, 66, of Hickory crossed over to her heavenly home on August 15, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. She dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother to her children, friend and aunt. She also dedicated her life to the care of others as a longtime employee of the Emergency Department at Frye Regional Medical Center. She was also a grateful member of Al-Anon. Born in Durham, NC on September 11, 1946, she was the daughter of the late John H. Wright and Margaret Browning Wright.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Michael Woolard; brother, Gerald T. Wright; and nephew, Jeff L. Wright.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Edward Alan Woolard of Claremont and Jerry W. “Scoot” Woolard, Jr. of the home; special niece, Trisha Wright of Creedmoor and special nephew, Dwight W. Wright of Durham.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013 in the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton with Rev. Fred Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ken McRea, Dr. Kevin Clark, Tony Harris, John Mucitelli, Mark Robinson, and Dr. Jason Coffey will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the funeral home.
