She was born in Catawba County, NC on April 2, 1930, to the late William Calvin Beal and Sallie Elizabeth Campbell Beal Shook. She was the valedictorian of Newton Conover High School in 1950, retired from Eller Buick as the bookkeeper, and was a long-time volunteer at the gift shop at Catawba Memorial Hospital. She was also a member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church in Newton.
In addition to her parents Alice was preceded in death by her husband, James “Tommy” Barnes; step daughter, Anne Barnes Lawing; brothers, Coyte, Ray, Gaither Beal; and a sister, Bernice Barker.
She is survived by her step son, Robert “Tony” Barnes; step daughter, Donna Sanders, and husband Ed; grandchildren, Cody Barnes, David Sanders and wife Mary, Beth Coffman and husband Eric; great-grandchildren, Emily, James, Lauren Sanders, and Nicholas Coffman.
Receiving of friends will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 12 p.m. prior to the service at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Marcus Ollis officiating burial to follow at Eastview Cemetery.
