Dad,
For 27 years I was lucky enough to have the absolute best Dad a girl could ask for. My hero, my role model, and the hardest working man I’ll ever know. You’ve always been my safe space. No matter how crazy the idea or petty the frustration, you were always there. I know part of the whole being a parent thing is to teach your child, but you took it to the next level. You taught me how to ride a bike, how to fish and how to just be a good person. You taught me the importance of a solid work ethic, you taught me how to be independent while still supporting me in every way possible.. you taught me how to value my self worth and to never let anyone take that from me. You taught me how to be compassionate and kind towards everything and everyone but also to speak my mind if they disrespected me. So much of me is you. You made me the fighter that I am today.
Every time I find myself overwhelmed with the list of things I’ve had to get done for you and I all of a sudden get a burst of strength and energy to get it done, I know that’s you.
Im going to miss my tv and movie buddy. Every time I see Walker texas ranger on the tv I think of you. I wanted to be just like you. I remember one day he was working on his car in the garage and I flipped my bicycle over and pretended to do the same. Got my hands all dirty and went up to him and said “look daddy, im just like you!” And in elementary school being the only kid in my class coming to school on the back of a Harley Davidson. My dad was just so cool. Im going to miss retelling the story of how I fell asleep on the back of your motorcycle and you telling me not to tell mom. I’m going to miss texting you about the most random stuff and sending you photos of your grandson. I’m going to make sure we talk about you every single day so he knows just how cool his grandpa Steve is. I promise to attempt to recreate your recipes with him because you were the worlds best cook.
Everything that I have done in my life has been to make you proud and I’ll continue doing so until my last breath. You were my biggest cheerleader. You supported me through my karate phase, my gymnastics phase and my cheer leading phase, my choir phase… there was a lot of phases! and always made sure to be at every event.
Part of me died with you the day you were called home, but I know when I see a blue jay flying by, or feel the need to bring home stray animals, it’s you. Me, Jason and Michael are so incredibly proud to call you dad. I will hold you in my heart until the day we meet again daddy.
Forever and always,
Your little girl
