Ron was proceeded in death by his parents JW and Hazelle Sherman. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sheila, three children daughter Cari Mauldin and her four children Caitlin, Myles, Mariah and Hunter, son Charles and Lisa Sherman and their three children Lia, Grady and Simone, and daughter Sara Barnes and Will Whissell and her three children Chloe, Ronald and Benny, Ron’s brother Jerry and his wife Lois Sherman, four great grandchildren, and nine nieces and nephews.
At the age of 5, Ron stood up in church and recited a memory verse. A member of the church commented that he should be a preacher. From that moment on, all Ron wanted to be was a minster of God, not a preacher, but a minister because he ministered to God’s children. He graduated from Oklahoma Christian College in 1966 and received two Master’s degrees from Pepperdine University. Ron began his ministry in Sonora, California and then moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon with his wife. He and his family then moved to Burlington, Colorado, Brawley, California before settling in Quart Hill, California where he ministered for 14 years. He then ministered in Rosamond, California, Burbank, California and retired from North Oaks church of Christ in Santa Clarita, California where he served as an elder until his passing. Ron always thirsted for knowledge and loved sharing it. He taught for 42 years at Antelope Valley College as an adjunct professor. He was also Dean of Students at Southern California School of Evangelism. Ron was a counselor and compassionate. He served as head chaplain at Antelope Valley Hospital.
Ron was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
