Richard Thomas

Richard was born in Mobile, Alabama, to Nonelle Thomas and Ethel Burden Thomas on October 31, 1935. He attended Central High School in Mobile.

He married Faye Juanita Askew on September 29, 1963 in Los Angeles, California and became the father of John and Tracie.

They were married for 61 years, He earned a bachelor’s degree at California State University of Northridge. He worked as a Transportation Supervisor of the Sepulveda VA hospital For 30 years, retiring in January,1994.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the US Navy from June 14, 1955 to May 18 1959. In addition he was a member of the American Legion.

Richard is preceded in death by his son, John Thomas; his father, Nonelle Thomas; his mother, Ethel Thomas and brothers, Joseph Parker and SamuelObair. Richard is survived by his wife, Faye Thomas; daughter,Tracie Thomas; granddaughters, Morgan McCallister and Taylor Carillo; great-granddaughter, Issa Edwards, a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

The celebration of his life will be private. The family of Richard would like to extend our sincere thanks to relatives and friends for your prayers, thoughts and expressions of sympathy for the loss of our loved one. We are grateful for family and friends like you at this time of sorrow.
