Paul was born in Ruzomberok, Biely Potok, Czechoslovakia to Magdalena and Victor Kendera. He was the second child of four, with two sisters and a brother. Paul escaped communist Czechoslovakia at the age of 23 to start his new life in the United States. After three years of being in America, he met his wife, Agatha, in a small department store called Zodies on Sunset and Western. She was one of a Czechoslovakian refugee group in Hollywood, CA. Paul was the first person she met after only three days in America. They were married three years later. That same year their first son, Robert, was born. Three years later, their second son, Eric, was born in October. Their third son, Nicolas, was born in 1999 to complete their family. Paul and Agatha celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in January of this year.
Paul started as an immigrant with nothing but his hands and God-given abilities. He accomplished much during his lifetime through hard work, honesty, and persistence. He worked as a machinist for Franmar Manufacturing in Southern California for 10 years and in 1990 became its owner and CEO. Paul was always a “custom made” man. He loved to make things with his hands, travel the world, and spend time with his family whom he loved very much.
Paul is survived by his mother, wife, sister, two brothers and three sons.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, at 12 noon followed by a funeral service at 1pm both at Eternal Valley Chapel of the Hills, 23287 N. Sierra Hwy., Newhall, CA 91321. Arrangements under the direction of Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, Newhall, CA.
