Marvin Frey, son of Clifford and Bernice Frey, was born on January 27, 1926 in Los Angeles, CA. He served in the US Navy and after he was honorably discharged in 1948 he moved to Newhall and worked for Gulf Oil Company. He married Jeanne Hilburn in 1950 and soon after they started their family; daughters Debbie, Carol, Susie and Janet. In 1955 he went into the mortuary business and for the next 35 years worked for Hilburn's Funeral Chapel, Eternal Valley and Forest Lawn. His grandparents homesteaded in Hasley Canyon in the early 1900's and his roots in the community were deep. He was a member of the 20-30 Club, Lyon's Club and a founding member of the Sportsman Club. Of his life's accomplishments he was most passionate about his large and loving family including son-in-laws Bob, Vic, John and Dan, grandchildren Cody, Victor, Lindsay, Kelly, Tranya, Tami, and great grandchildren Kaila, Paige, Lucas, Leah, Bradley, Madie, John Lee, Savannah and Hunter. Marvin was also proud of his extended family and dear friends.
A graveside service was held at Eternal Valley on Saturday with family and friends in attendance.
