In 1959 Bernice and her family relocated to Pacoima, California. Bernice was an exceptional student. While attending San Fernando High School, she excelled in athletics and academics, graduating with high honors.
During her studies at Cal State Northridge, Bernice worked as an instructional assistant at Filmore Elementary School. She showed care, guidance, and support to her students, which she would later bestow to her many nieces and nephews. Bernice had a long-standing career at Farmers Insurance, demonstrating dedication and loyalty for 32 years. There, she found a “work home” and lifelong friends.
Bernice was a creative soul. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and interior decorating. She was known for her elaborate Halloween costumes and handmade decorations. With her creative talents, the holidays were unforgettable.
Bernice was a lifelong member of The Church of God in Jesus Christ. In the late 90’s, she was called to the position of Deacon. She consistently checked on members, organized outings, and decorated the church for the holidays. She cherished her role and held her position with grace until her death.
Loving her family in the most immeasurable ways, she took on the role of caregiver to her younger sister Virna after their father's passing. Bernice was not only a sister to her siblings but also their best friend and confidant. She treasured her title as Aunt, providing unwavering love and support to her nieces and nephews. Her presence will be missed forever.
