Hernando T. Gonzalez

He was born on March 10, 1940 in Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines to Mariano and Socorro Gonzalez. Hernando graduated from the University of the Philippines, College of Engineering in 1961. Four years later he earned his Master's in Business Administration. He met his wife, Helen, in 1964. In 1971 they immigrated to the U.S., settling in Chicago where they lived until 1986 before relocating to Valencia, California. Hernando and Helen moved to Union City in the Bay Area in 1993, then returned to Valencia in 2005. Hernando worked as a quality control engineer for several medical device companies including Baxter, Guidant, Boston Scientific, Second Sight and a few other start-up companies. He retired in 2010 after working for almost 40 years in the U.S. and 10 years in the Philippines. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Hernando was an active member of the Beta Epsilon fraternity and the Southern California Santa Rosa community.

Hernando is survived by his wife of 49 ⅟₂ years, Helen, and his sister Aurora Oña of Santa Rosa, Philippines. Also surviving him are his three children and their spouses: Ernie and Joy Gonzalez of Carson, California; Mary and C.J. Moylan of Santa Clarita, California; and Rachel and Steven Levy of Summit, New Jersey. He will be greatly missed by his six granddaughters: Heather, Claire, Isabel, Olivia, Katherine and Adrienne.

A viewing will be held at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary (23287 N. Sierra Highway, Newhall, California 91321) on Friday, November 27 from 4:00pm-8:00pm.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (23233 Lyons Avenue, Newhall, California 91321) on Saturday, November 28 at 11:00am with the burial and reception immediately following at Eternal Valley.
