Wilbur R. Dunn, age 87, of Newfane, entered into rest on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Buffalo General Hospital. Born June 13, 1931 in Syracuse, Wilbur is the son of the late: Clarence W. and Nellie A. (Crozier) Dunn.
Wilbur married Ramona Goodrich on April 20, 1957 at the Methodist Church in Walton, NY. Ramona died March 28, 2016. Wilbur was a member of the Newfane United Methodist Church. He served his country in the US Army from 1953 until 1955.
Wilbur worked at Newfane Central Schools as a school administrator for 15 years retiring in 1989. Prior to moving to Newfane, Wilbur worked at the Homer Central School System as Junior High Vice Principal, Senior High Principal. He also worked as a Social Studies teacher in both Syracuse and Marathon, NY. Wilbur was the author of Full Measure of Devotion 8th New York Heavy Artillery a book on the Civil War. He loved photography, had a collection of trains and enjoyed his many pets over the years. He and Ramona loved to travel and spend time with their families.
Surviving Wilbur are his children: Brian (Terri) Dunn and Heather (Gregory) Lodinsky; and dear grandfather of Lizzie and Caroline. Wilbur was predeceased by his brother, Ronald W. Dunn.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Avenue, Newfane, NY 14108 on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11 am
from Newfane United Methodist Church, 2699 Main Street, Newfane, NY. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery, Walton, NY.
