Richard "Dick" William Reisinger, 67, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, November 20, 2023, He was born January 26, 1956 in Madison, WI to Edward and Maurita Reisinger. He will be deeply missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Dick grew up in McFarland, WI along the shores of Lake Waubesa with his 3 brothers and 2 sisters and many neighborhood friends. He shared a special bond with his twin brother, Bob. Growing up in the Edwards Park neighborhood created many fond lifelong memories. But most importantly, it provided an appreciation for the simpler things in life. Dick attended the McFarland School District, excelling in academics and athletics. He was a proud alumnus of the McFarland High School Class of 1974. He continued his academic and athletic careers at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering in 1978 and participated in track and field and football during his college career. In 1994, he graduated with a Master of Business Administration from Murray State University.
Dick was employed in the mining industry for 40 years (primarily for Peabody Coal Company), retiring in 2019. His career had layovers in Illinois, Indiana, Colorado, Missouri and Kentucky while holding a variety of positions in engineering, operations and business development. He enjoyed being an engineer above anything else. He deeply cared about the safety of his fellow miner. He was a registered Professional Engineer in 6 states and a lifelong member of the Society of Mining Engineers. He made many friendships throughout his professional career.
While working in Southern Illinois, Dick met and married Annita Schrock on September 25, 1982, celebrating 41 years of marriage in 2023.
Although his career was very demanding, Dick spent time away from work attending various events of their 3 children, coaching baseball and traveling to Wisconsin with his family. He was excited when his granddaughter recently decided to play softball, rekindling fond memories of yesteryear. He was an avid fan of the Wisconsin Badgers football and women's volleyball teams, and lifelong Green Bay Packers fan.
Dick enjoyed his retirement years volunteering, raising grandchildren, bicycling, traveling and the occasional round of golf. His lifetime golf achievement was meeting Arnold Palmer at a restaurant in Grand Junction, CO. He volunteered at the Evansville Rescue Mission, Samaritan’s Purse, St. John the Baptist Food Pantry and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Earlier volunteer activities included Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Junior Achievement. Dick also served in several church ministries throughout his life.
