She was employed at Dental Associates West. Kim was a member of Hope Team, a suicide response team. She was also a mentor at the YWCA. She had a love for people and animals. Kim had written several books.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Chad Dirks.
Kim is survived by her husband of 15 years, Mark; daughter, Lauren; step daughter, Megan; step sons, Chase and Bobby; mother, Janet Sandell (Gene) of Grundy Center, IA; and father, Ken Dirks (Sue) of Benton, IL.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Rev. Kevin Brimner. Friends may visit 1:00 PM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the YWCA.
