Jack S. Edgerton, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024, the day after his 80th birthday. Jack was born in Bowling Green, KY, on November 3, 1944, to the late John Slaughter and Hazel Alice (Cole) Edgerton.
Jack graduated from Castle High School in 1962 and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Oakland City University in 1968. For many years, he worked alongside his father at John S. Edgerton Public Accounting Service.
In his younger years, Jack enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, and spent several summers in the late 1970s and early 1980s planting trees in the reclaimed old strip mine areas. He was known for his quiet, introverted nature and he found joy in reading, especially science fiction and mystery novels.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cypress Grove, who cared for Jack over the last 18 years. Their dedication and compassion were invaluable.
Jack is survived by his beloved younger sister, Ruth Edgerton of Newburgh, IN; cousin Angela Clark of Owensboro, KY, and several extended family members.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Jack will be laid to rest beside his parents at with burial at Cedar Hill in Leavenworth, IN.
