Ernest "Jim" Alvin Stone

Ernest A. “Jim” Stone, 84, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021. He was born April 18, 1937 to the late Alvin and Mildred (Thomas) Stone. He was an Air Force veteran, retiring after 23 years. He was employed with Alcoa for 10 years, retiring in 1993. Jim was raised as a Southern Baptist and attended Hatfield United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, family time, golf, dancing and boating. Jim was preceded in death by grandson, Jacob Allen Stone; sister, Glenda Sue Oliver, and brother, Carl Melton Stone. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Suzanne (Morgan) Stone of Newburgh; children, David Stone (Betty) of Blackwell, OK, Sharon Stone of Ada, OK, Ernest Stone of Grant, AL, Kimberly Myers (Todd) of Siloam Springs, AK, Rodney Stone (Ron) of Aurora, CO and Alisa Stofleth (Mike) of Newburgh; 17 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren; brother, David Stone; sister, Darla Barrett (Stanley); sister-in-law, Virginia Stone, and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor Bret Nicholson. Military Rites will be performed by Kapperman Post #44. Friends and family may visit Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Final resting place will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, KY. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
