It is with great sadness that we must announce that Elberta Kay Meneely (Roeschlein) of Newburgh, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Matriarch grew her angel wings, October, 31, 2022 at 81 years young.
Elberta was born July 15, 1941 in Staunton, IN. She met the love of her life, Larry Paul Meneely, in High School and married him shortly after graduation on December 17, 1960. The happy couple were married over 50 years having two sons, Mark and Bradley (Tammy); four grand-children, Logan (Haley), Chase, Matthew and Kayla (Ian) Burleson, and three great grand-children, Aubrey, Kane (her namesake), and Orion who were her pride and joy.
Elberta loved her family fiercely and spent her life caring for those around her. It would be hard to find anyone with her warmth, compassion, and kindness. Her family affectionately teased her that she hadn’t eaten a hot meal in 50 years because she was so focused on the needs of those around her. None of Elberta’s babies were going hungry in her house.
When Elberta wasn’t running her house or helping raise children, she enjoyed making dolls and soaps for her craft business, going on camping trips with her husband Larry Paul, and watching IU basketball and her “Stories.”
Elberta will be greatly missed, but we know she will be greeted by those that went before her. Husband, Larry Paul; son, Mark Alan, and parents Elbert (Shirley) Roeschlein, and Mary (Lester) Kelsey. She is survived by her son, Bradley (Tammy); her aforementioned grandchildren; great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Curt) Danhouer of Greencastle, IN; brother in-law, Denny (Lilli) Meneely of Brazil, IN, and her many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home- Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh, IN. A Celebration of Life service will begin Sunday at 12:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery, 5133 Old Indiana 261, Newburgh, IN. Loved ones are invited afterwards for lunch at Alexander Funeral Home- Newburgh Chapel for good food and good stories.
