Obituary of Rev. Deborah Ann (Bolin) Marks
Rev. Deborah Ann (Bolin) Marks, 66, passed away peacefully at home in Riverside, CA, on Saturday, November 14, 2015, after a short battle with ovarian cancer. She was born July 26, 1949, in Evansville, IN, to the late Frank and Doris (Kingsbury) Bolin. She was always an independent free spirit who lived her life from within. Debbie left home at eighteen and moved to California. She married Earl Marks and lived on a boat in the Long Beach, California marina. They moved to the state of Washington for a short time, then Las Vegas and later returned to Southern California where she stayed the rest of her life. Earl and Debbie divorced and she later married Mike Marcos. Mike and Debbie would later divorce, but maintained their friendship. She valued friendship and accumulated many friends in her lifetime. Most of her friendships lasted throughout her life. She was known to address them all as “my friend.” Deb mentored many of “her friends” and saw the best in all of them. She owned her own company called Marks Supply. It was a successful business for many years. She later worked for several lumber companies. Debbie also worked for a nonprofit organization and served as the Office Manager. Debbie was always very intelligent and spiritual. She touched many lives in her sixty-six years of this life journey. She applied it with compassion and everyone loved Debbie and she loved everyone. Deb would assist the poor and homeless. She gave them something to eat, let them shower and gave them a place to sleep. Debbie became a Licensed Religious Science Practitioner in 1998 and graduated from ministerial school at Holmes Institute, San Diego campus, receiving her Masters of Consciousness degree on June 30, 2007. She served as staff minister at Riverside Community Center for Spiritual Living. Rev. Debbie was ordained on April 30, 2011, and became an associate minister at Vision Center for Spiritual Living, later becoming Senior Minister. She loved the name “Rev. Deb.” She was very passionate about animals. They have always been a part of her life and her ministry. She always had multiple cats and dogs, most were rescued animals. Her first animal rescue was at the age of eighteen while living in Long Beach. It was a dog named Rascal. Her first cat rescue was in the state of Washington. She also raised birds and assisted with relocating a skunk community to safety. Rev. Deb founded the Friends of Animals Ministry as a practitioner. This ministry assisted with the feeding and healthcare of many animals. She was known for educating people about animals and feeding animals throughout the Inland Empire. This included feral cats, which eventually led her to Rood 8 Memorial Cat Foundation in Jurupa Valley, where she served as president of its board of trustees for several years. The Foundation is a guaranteed adoption facility specializing in placing older cats whose owners have passed away or can no longer care of them. One of her favorite memories was being invited to deliver the invocation at the opening celebration of the new Wester Riverside County/City Animal Shelter. She loved to share the story that she had blessed several animals that day all of them were adopted. One of her most treasured demonstrations of prayer was her son, Bill Hudson, finding her after being given up for adoption at birth. It was a demonstration of love finding love. Her legacy is love. Debbie is survived by her son, Bill Hudson and his wife, Liza. Also surviving are her three younger brothers who adored her, Terry (Nancy), Frank, and Jeff (Paula) Bolin; aunt, Charlotte Evans; uncle, Charles Kingsbury (Bettye); nieces and nephews, Jason, Mindy, Tracy, Joshua, Amanda, Deryl, Tabitha and Audra. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 5, 2015, at New Life Ministries Church, 525 Richardt Ave., Evansville, IN. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation, 8354 63rd St., Riverside, CA 92509 or www.room8cats.org.
