Allen Wayne Ashby

Allen Wayne Ashby, 82, of Boonville, IN, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born in Ashbyburg, KY on June 5, 1935, to the late Roy and Brooksye Ashby. He was of the Christian faith. Allen served in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed keeping up with the current news, horse racing, the outdoors, and bike riding for miles around Newburgh and Chandler. Allen enjoyed sports, but none more than coaching youth baseball and basketball for his son. He had a passion for gardening and provided his family with many fresh vegetables. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Holly Stanley; and brother, Cecil “Joe” Earl. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Christine; daughter, Lisa Selby (Timothy); son, John Allen Ashby (Shannon) grandchildren, Tristan, Brad, Ethan, and Allison Selby, and Dalton and Joseph Ashby; and sister, Dorothy “Dee” Bridgwater (John). The family would like to thank Allen’s special nurse from Deaconess VNA Plus Hospice, Christin Wallace, who was extremely dedicated and caring. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Rev. Randy Moore with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit 3-7 PM on Monday and 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
